My Projects @ Cobb

Glaze materials
Currently I am experimenting with glaze formulas and new recipes. I am seeking to use more found and waste material to create unique glazes for my pieces. Using things like obsidian, granite, marble, and egg shells I have successfully foung some interesting celedon green glazes.
Wood firings
At Cobb Mountain Art and Ecology, I am learning about all things wood fired ceramics. Not only the time of preparation for wood, but the community that us involved in firing a kiln for 24hours a day, multiple days in a row. It is truly magical seeing the transformation that occurs during a wood firing.

Soda Firings
Before attending Cobb Mountain as a resident, I had no experience in atmospheric firings of any kind. Soda firing process involves introducing sodium oxide into a red hot kiln to create unique surfaces as the vapor interacts with the pieces inside.
Land Management
Under the leadership of Scott Parady, some of my fellow residents and I are learning about how to protect lands from wildfires. We move underbrush and burn small amounts at a time to clear areas that are susceptible to fires.
